27th-Mar-2008 06:15 pm - From English to German to English
I recently watched a TV discussion about the increase of english words in the german language. Someone told a wonderful story about (literal) translations:
An egyptian airplane company had informative brochures in english about events that changed the world. They also included Kennedy's famous speech "Ich bin ein Berliner". They translated it into english as "I am a donut". I find the image of Kennedy saying that (and it being true) hilarious. There should be a t-shirt with his face and the saying "I am a donut".

Firefly is for the fucking win! Yesterday I watched the last episode and was so sad that it was over. Curse you FOX and curse everyone who didn't watch it. Stupid ratings.
How can you not love it? The characters are interesting and morally ambiguous. It's a science-fiction show without aliens. It has a nice art department. It fuses the Wild West and Chinese culture into one intriguing mix. There is really no valid reason not to watch it.
I'm going to re-watch Serenity next. And then cry that the series got cancelled.

Why did no one ever tell me how nice iGoogle is? Well, Flo told me yesterday when I noticed him using it. It's really nice. Right now I use several news channels to test which one suits my needs, weather service, random quotes, tv service, recipe of the day and a to-do list. My background is called Teahouse and is absolutely adorable. I always thought iGoogle is gratuitous but it's quite useful. And it looks nicer than the original page.

ETA: That little fox is beyond awesome! I love watching his day.
